Is PGBHub really free to start?
Yes. You do not need to provide a credit card to create your cluster. Every account receives 500 MB of database storage and 20 compute hours free every month forever, and we never charge for data transfer.
How does serverless pay-as-you-go billing work?
You are only charged for what you use beyond the free monthly allowance. Active compute is metered strictly per second while executing queries ($0.02–$0.25/hr, tiered by storage size). When idle, compute costs $0.00. Storage is billed at $0.18/GB-month. Data transfer (egress and ingress) is never billed.
How do I pay? Is there a monthly card charge?
New accounts add funds to a prepaid balance (from $10 per deposit) and your monthly statement is paid from it, so there is no surprise card charge. You can turn on auto-reload to top up from a saved card when the balance runs low. If a balance runs out we warn you, give you a grace period, and only then pause your services. Nothing is deleted, and adding funds resumes everything. The free allowance never needs a balance.
Are there credits for startups and early projects?
Yes. PGB Activate gives credits to early projects. Apply from your Billing page with your organisation, team and what you are building; a person reviews every application. Approved credits are applied to your bill automatically, before any of your own balance, and they expire.
What happens if my usage exceeds the free allowance?
You will receive a gentle dashboard notice and email notification inviting you to attach a payment method. Your databases will continue running during a grace period so your users experience zero interruption.
